Huisseau-Sur-Cosson: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Église Saint Étienne et Saint My was built in two periods: the central part dates from the late 12th century, while the side aisle was added in the 16th century. The church also has a wooden Caquetoir, a type of gallery common in Sologne and Berry.

Culture and History

Another historical site is the Château des Grotteaux. It was built in 1620 by Guillaume Ribier on older foundations. The château has been listed in the inventory of historic monuments since 1954, and its park since 1997. Guided tours include the listed park, the fully furnished château and secret passageways.

Every Wednesday, the Château des Grotteaux hosts a wine tasting in its medieval cellars, featuring local Loire wines from older vintages and regional specialities.

Nature

Les chênes jumeaux are located in the Boulogne state forest in Huisseau-sur-Cosson. Each of the two oak trees is 32 metres tall and has a diameter of 110 centimetres. They are approximately 350 years old.

To reach Les chênes jumeaux, follow Rue de la Charmoise from the exit of Huisseau-sur-Cosson towards Mont-près-Chambord to the entrance of Boulogne Forest near the forester’s hut. Then walk approximately 400 metres and turn left at the sign for the oak trees.

Trails

Huisseau-sur-Cosson has three signposted hiking and walking trails. They were created by the Communauté de communes du Pays de Chambord and the municipality with the support of the Comité départemental de la randonnée pédestre. In addition, the circular route to the Château de Saumery in Huisseau-sur-Cosson is signposted by FFRandonnée 41.
