Chailles: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Culture and history
The Seigneurie of Château du Plessis-Villelouet is mentioned from the 14th century onwards. Listed as historic monuments there are the façades and roofs of the château, the chapel in its entirety, the four buildings of the model farm, and the dairy and its rustic grotto, each in its entirety.
At Château de la Pigeonnière, the façades and roofs of the library, including its interior furnishings, as well as three Louis XIII-style fireplaces, are listed as historic monuments. Remains of an earlier fortified castle can still be seen in the course of the moats and in the arrangement of four round and square towers.
The Église Saint-Martin de Chailles also spans several centuries: its oldest elements date from the 13th century, and it was remodelled in the 15th and 16th centuries. The choir's wood panelling dates from the 17th century.
Those choosing Chailles as a destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment for their stay.
For motorhomes and self-contained vans, Chailles offers the CAMPING-CAR-PARK site with 20 pitches. A service point is available for filling up with water and emptying grey and black water; parking is permitted there year-round.
Local life
Le Train Vert, the La Chesnaie association's restaurant, is open before every event. The “Train vert” is fully listed as a historic monument.
Trails and nature
The “Rando Chailles – La Chesnaie” hike passes by the privately owned Château de la Pigeonnière. Another route, “Les Châteaux et forêt de Chaille”, runs through the Forêt Domaniale de Russy.
