Culture
The Église Saint-Nicolas de Tavant contains remarkable frescoes dating from the 11th or 12th century. The frescoes in its crypt depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments as well as symbolic figures. The crypt has a replica in the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine at the Trocadéro in Paris and was restored in 2012.
The surviving ruins of the Notre-Dame priory church include three bays of the south aisle, the springings of its vaults, and three round-arched arcades that connected the aisle with the nave. The ruins of the Notre-Dame priory church have been protected since 22 May 1948 through listing under the French Monuments historiques heritage protection system.
The Église Saint-Nicolas and its crypt can be visited from 7 April through and including 20 September 2026, Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; the last admission is 30 minutes before closing.

The “De l’Île Bouchard à Chinon” route passes through Tavant. This route is listed as being 15.2 km long and taking 3 hours.
Markets and events
The Marchés gourmands de Tavant start at 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday in June, July and August, as well as on the first Wednesday in September.
The Brocante de Tavant was scheduled for Sunday, 5 April 2026, Easter Sunday. On 5 April 2026, it was open to pedestrians from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Two dates were scheduled for the cultural evenings in summer: 18 July and 8 August. On these occasions, a crypt visit at a special rate was available at 6 p.m. by reservation; refreshments and light snacks were also offered.
