Nazelles-Négron: Holiday apartments and houses

Nazelles-Négron begins with the Église Saint-Symphorien in Négron. The ensemble dates from the 15th century and is dedicated to Saint Symphorianus. The central basket-handle vault is considered quite rare in the region. By an order dated 18 November 1953, the church was listed as a historic monument.

Culture

In 1520, the Château de Nazelles was owned by Thomas Bohier, the builder of Chenonceaux; at that time, he commissioned the construction of the manor house. The façades and roofs of the Château de Nazelles have been protected as components of a historic monument by an order dated 1 October 1963.

The neighbouring barn features a roof typical of Touraine and an impressive roof framework. The Église Saint-Pierre de Nazelles houses the stained-glass window “La Crucifixion”, which was classified as an immovable monument on 2 February 1904.

Visits to the Château de Montdomaine are possible exclusively by appointment.

Wine

The Touraine-Amboise appellation extends along the eastern slopes from Cangey to Nazelles-Négron. Its terroir is characterised by clay-and-gravel soils and so-called Perruches soils, which give the wines their distinctive character.

Maison Gandon offers a wine tasting in its troglodytic cellar. By appointment, Maison Gandon also offers a wine tasting with an immersive experience in the vineyards.

The Château de Montdomaine invites visitors to discover natural wines from its 17 hectares of vineyards in the Vouvray, Touraine-Amboise and Touraine appellations.

The Cisse is part of the natural heritage of Nazelles-Négron.

Things to do

The circular route “Loire & Terroir – Circuit n°12” passes through the villages of Nazelles-Négron and Noisay. Along the slopes, it follows old troglodytic dwellings, a shaded path by the river or routes through the vineyards.
