The Château de Chenonceau is a Renaissance masterpiece from the 16th century and spans the Cher. The Domaine de Chenonceau is part of the Val de Loire World Heritage area.
Chenonceaux preserves the 12th-century Church of Saint John the Baptist and the Maison des Pages, built in the 16th century.

Nature
The southern side of Chenonceaux is bordered by the Cher River. Forests and woodland cover 39 percent of Chenonceaux's area.
The Parc aux Pivoines is a municipal park in Chenonceaux dedicated to the peony. The Parc aux Pivoines contains 120 peonies from 40 different varieties among 4,000 plantings.
Getting around
The GR 41 runs through Chenonceaux and follows the Cher Valley.
The 10.5 km circular hike “L'eau au fil des siècles en Val de Cher” leads over wooded vineyard slopes; the plateau opens onto the Forêt d'Amboise.
The 8 km circular hike “Sur les bords du Cher” crosses the village, follows the left bank of the Cher and offers views of the Château de Chenonceau.
A branch of La Loire à vélo leads from Chenonceaux 14 km to Amboise. Indre à vélo includes a 9.4 km route from Luzillé to Chenonceaux via Francueil.
Chenonceaux TER railway station is located at the Château de Chenonceau and has a TER ticket machine.
Wine and events
On the third Saturday in July, the winegrowers of AOC Touraine-Chenonceaux and the Château de Chenonceau hold an evening featuring walks through the illuminated château gardens to music by Arcangelo Corelli, an exceptional opening of the grand gallery above the Cher and the Orangerie, as well as a gastronomic menu with dishes and wines from AOC Touraine-Chenonceaux; reservations are required.
