Two dates mark the history of Château de Lignières: it was built from 1654 onwards by François Le Vau for Jérôme de Nouveau and classified as a historic monument by decree on 27 June 1935.
Culture
The Notre-Dame church in Lignières is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century. It was remodelled in the 17th century and extended in the 19th century. Notre-Dame can be accessed via a bridge at both the front and the rear.
The church houses the Sainte Jeanne de France Oratory, which is associated with Jeanne de Valois, also known as Jeanne de France. She lived in Lignières for 15 years and spent a long time praying there.
Les Bains-Douches is a venue for contemporary music, with a focus on French chanson. For more than 45 years, it has been a place where music is created and artists are supported.
