Culture

The surviving remains of the Prieuré de Saint-Jean-des-Bonshommes are classified as a historic monument; this classification was established by decree of 14 November 1905. The Prieuré de Saint-Jean-des-Bonshommes is also a former monastery of the Order of Grandmont.

The Château de Montjalin is partially protected as a historic monument; its main construction phase dates from the second half of the 18th century. The protection covers the façades and roofs of the château, the enclosing wall, the dry moat, and the railings, including the gate.

The Château de Sauvigny-le-Bois was reunited with a 24-hectare park in 1988; restoration and construction work subsequently enabled its restoration. The Château de Sauvigny-le-Bois is listed in France’s supplementary register of historic monuments and preserves architectural elements from the late 16th or early 17th century, the 18th century, and the first third of the 19th century.

The Chapelle de Montjalin was built in 1858 as a family chapel for burials. It has four remarkable stained-glass windows created by Olivier Wegmann, a glassmaker born in Sauvigny. In summer, the Chapelle de Montjalin hosts exhibitions.

The Musée Olaf DeLafon de l'automobile presents a collection of automobiles and documentation about vehicles belonging to heads of state. The museum in the Château de Montjalin in Sauvigny-le-Bois can be visited as part of guided tours.

Nature

The Véloroute du Serein runs from Sainte-Vertu to Sauvigny-le-Bois. The Ecopôle Suez centre est has a trail dedicated to biodiversity; group visits are possible by reservation.
