History
The Tour de Celle was built in 1576 and was probably the tower of Saint-Georges-sur-Baulche’s first windmill. It stands on the site of the vanished 13th-century Notre-Dame-de-Celles Abbey.
The windmill associated with the Tour de Celle remained in operation until the 1850s.
Architectural Heritage
The Church of Saint George was probably built between the late 12th and early 13th centuries. It features a composite style with Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical elements.
The church contains a remarkable statue of Saint George, on which traces of polychromy are still visible.
The Château de Billy was extensively remodelled by the Poterat de Billy family from 1902 onwards. The priory is a 17th-century building dating from the reign of Louis XIII.
