The centre of Préty is built entirely from local pink stone. The rural farmhouses include outbuildings arranged around square courtyards, which open onto the streets through round-arched gateways.

Culture and History

The monumental plane tree of Préty was planted in 1801 on a hill, on the site of a so-called court lime tree, to mark the Concordat. In 1909, it was listed as a historic monument and placed under heritage protection; it is 33.5 metres tall. Préty’s central washhouse was redesigned in 2020 with two cascading basins and a newly landscaped access area.

The pink stone quarries of Préty were once well known. Their stone was used, among other things, for the towers of the Romanesque abbey of Tournus and the Hôtel-Dieu in Louhans.

Nature and Trails

The municipality of Préty includes 580 hectares of woodland. Préty is also recommended as an ideal starting point for hikes between the Saône and the local quarries.

Events and Equestrian Sports

The competition address of the Préty-Cuisery riding school is the RD37; the municipality describes the site in Préty as an equestrian competition venue. Préty Patrimoine de Pays has regularly held basket-weaving courses every year since 2015. Cultural events for adults and children are offered in Préty.

Wine from Préty

The Domaine de la Main d'Or winery grows grapes for AOC Mâcon Blanc wine at its site in Préty. Wine is sold directly at the winery by prior appointment.
