Champvert: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Tour de Bourgogne à vélo runs along a 120 km cycling route beside the Canal du Nivernais between Champvert and Pousseaux, north of Clamecy towards Yonne.

The section between Champvert and Pousseaux is considered easy and has only slight changes in elevation. It can be completed with the family in three days, with stages of 40 km each.

A trip to Champvert may include the desire to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture

Work to replace the wooden bridge deck with a stone arch at the Pont sur l'écluse 33 du versant Loire, dite de Champvert was awarded in 1847.

The abutments and the arch are made of rubble stone and dressed stone; the railings are modern and made of metal.

The Maison forte de Riegot was built in the 15th century and altered in the 17th century.

It is considered representative of the military and rural architecture of Nièvre at the end of the Middle Ages.

The Maison de cantonnier on the Canal du Nivernais is a building of the “Foucherot” type.

The Site de l'écluse 33 du versant Loire, dite de Champvert, is located at Bief 33 on the Loire-side section of the Canal du Nivernais.

This ensemble comprises a house, a lock and a washhouse.

The lock keeper’s house is a rectangular “Poirée” type building with a gabled roof with long roof slopes.
