Saulon-La-Rue: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and history

The choir of the Église de Fénay dates from the early 12th century. It comprises three apses vaulted in the form of half-domes, corresponding to the three original naves. The nave dates from the 12th century and was remodelled in the 15th century. During this work, the pillars separating the nave from the aisles were removed; the southern side door and the cornice with chamfered corbels were preserved. The Église de Fénay is shared between the municipalities of Fénay and Saulon-la-Rue and is protected as a historic monument.

The Château de Saulon is a neoclassical building dating from the 17th century; its park covers 27 hectares. It is also a 4-star hotel and restaurant.

In the area around Saulon-la-Rue are the Palais des ducs de Bourgogne, a palace; the Manoir de La Perrière de Fixin, a historic site; the Château de Gilly, also a historic site; and the Monastère des Bernardines de Dijon, likewise a historic site.

There is a washhouse on the border between Saulon-la-Rue and Fénay. Saulon-la-Rue also has a preserved watermill.

Landscape

Mont Afrique is a mountain in the area around Saulon-la-Rue. In the wider region are the Côte de Soucy, a hill, and Mont Tasselot, also a hill.

The Canal de la Cent-Fonts is one of the numerous waterways that pass through Saulon-la-Rue.
