Wine and regional character

The AOP Aloxe-Corton is a red or white Burgundy wine from the Côte de Beaune wine-growing region. This AOP includes, among others, 14 Climats classified as Premier Cru and three Climats classified as Grand Cru.

As part of its Table d’Hôtes, Domaine Comte Senard offers a wine tasting with a Burgundian lunch.

Culture and history

The Château de Corton-André is listed as a historic monument in France. The present-day Château de Corton-André was created between 1895 and 1900 by converting an 18th-century house.

The Saint-Médard Church was built from 1890 to 1891, replacing an older chapel from the 15th or 16th century. Château Corton Grancey was built in Aloxe-Corton in 1749 on the site of a former quarry.

The Place du Chapitre formed the centre of the old village of Aloxe-Corton. In Aloxe-Corton, the Clos du Chapitre is a wine-growing area known as “Les Meix” and recorded in the land register, around which the village apparently developed.

Landscape and trails

The Butte de Corton can be reached via paths and roads and is suitable for hiking and photography. The vineyards of the Chapitre d’Autun are designated in Aloxe-Corton as a section of trail and viewpoint.

In the immediate vicinity of Aloxe-Corton, the circular route “Circuit n° 3 – Le Tour de la Butte de Corton” offers views of Aloxe-Corton.
