Nature
Corberon is affected by two Natura 2000 designations for “Forêt de Cîteaux et environs”: the Special Area of Conservation ZSC FR2601013 and the Special Protection Area ZPS FR2612007. The Natura 2000 site “Forêt de Cîteaux et environs” covers the eastern part of Corberon. The Étang de Champ Jarley lies east of Corberon. Corberon has approximately 450 hectares of woodland. The Sereine feeds the Étang de Champjarley in Corberon. Corberon has artificially created ponds used for recreational fishing.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Hilaire was probably built in the 13th century; the roofing was renewed and chapels were added at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century, before the building was remodelled in the 19th century. The farm complex of the château forms a particularly striking ensemble dating from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Longères are the most frequently recorded architectural form in Corberon; twelve have been documented and are currently used exclusively for residential purposes. Several winemakers’ houses bear witness to Corberon’s winemaking past. The Moulin de la Barre in Corberon was built in the second quarter of the 19th century. Hydraulic power was harnessed at the Moulin de la Barre using a vertical water wheel.
Townscape
The RD 973 crosses Corberon from west to east and runs through the town centre. Corberon’s historic centre can be identified along the RD 2, particularly around the church and cemetery. The old centre of Corberon has narrow, winding streets.
Activities
In the Pays Beaunois, there are family hikes with little elevation gain as well as more demanding tours with climbs and sporty walks.
