Nature and Trails

The Marais des Brosses is located in the municipal forest of Recey-sur-Ource, in the core zone of the Parc national de forêts. The path through the Marais was renovated to make safe public access easier and protect the wetland from damage. A 250-metre circular nature trail leads through the area, half of which runs along a low wooden walkway on stilts. The Marais offers insights into the local flora within a tufa marsh.

The Circuit de Montot starts in Recey-sur-Ource, is 9 kilometres long and is classified as easy. It is a forest hiking trail in the Parc national de forêts. The Circuit de Lugny also starts in Recey-sur-Ource; it is 11 kilometres long and is classified as easy. The Circuit de Lugny is connected with the former Chartreuse de Lugny and conveys a monastic atmosphere.

The Promenade de la Carrière leads to the Trou de Bazon spring, also called Trou de Bazou. The Vaulemain tufa marsh is suitable for a short walk.

Culture and History

The Maison forte de Beaufremont, also known as the Tour de Beaufremont, is a fortified house. Dendrochronological dating places the probable felling year of the building timber in 1305. The roof is predominantly covered with lavez; dendrochronological dating places the remarkable roof structure at the beginning of the 14th century.

The Église Saint-Rémi dates from the 13th century. The Église Saint-Rémy contains a marble high altar from the Chartreuse de Lugny, as well as a polychrome Pietà. The lavoir is roofed with limestone. The church of an old village displays Romanesque and Gothic features.

Local Life

The Marché de Recey-sur-Ource takes place year-round at Place de Silenrieux. Products on offer include dairy products, including sheep's cheese, fresh and dried fruit and vegetables, as well as savoury foods.

La Safranerie Templière produces saffron, purple garlic and grey shallots in the former hemp fields of Recey-sur-Ource on the edge of the Grouème. The products are available directly at the processing site. In October, during flowering and harvesting, La Safranerie Templière offers tours of the facility by individual arrangement or group booking.

Events

The Foire aux graines is an event held in May.
