La Roche-en-Brenil is located in the north-eastern Morvan, a low mountain massif. Forests cover 46 percent of the area. The town belongs to the “Le Haut Plateau Boisé” landscape unit of the Morvan and, at the same time, to the “l’Auxois des Buttes” landscape unit.

Landscape
The Rocher Arthur is a large rock beside a path, with a seat-like surface on top. The Pierre de la Beuffenie is an eleven-metre-long rock formation made up of blocks balanced on one another, which together form a cave-like space.

History and Customs
The main construction phases of the Château de La Roche-en-Brenil date from the second half of the 16th century as well as the 17th and 18th centuries. The Château de La Roche-en-Brenil is partially protected as a Monument historique. The partially protected complex includes the chapel, the moats, two drawbridges and the entrance portal.
