Hauteville-Lès-Dijon: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Fort d’Hauteville was built from 11 September 1877 to the end of 1880. It is part of the Séré de Rivières fortification system built around Dijon at the end of the 19th century. The entire Fort d’Hauteville was added to France’s supplementary inventory of historic monuments on 17 March 2006.

Culture and history

The Église Saint-Pierre was partially destroyed by fire and rebuilt around 1720 by Jean III de Berbisey, the first president of the Parliament of Dijon and the co-lord of Hauteville at the time. Its façade and inner north wall feature masonry in the opus spicatum style. The rare opus spicatum masonry is dated to the late 10th or early 11th century; this construction technique is uncommon in Burgundy.

Fort d’Hauteville houses the “La Vie Paysanne Autrefois” museum, which was inaugurated on 21 September 2021.

In the immediate vicinity of Hauteville-lès-Dijon lies Château de Vantoux, a castle. Also nearby is Monastere Saint-Bernard Fontaine-les-Dijon, a historic site. The surrounding area also includes the Palais des ducs de Bourgogne, a palace, and Château de Dijon, a historic site.

Landscape and trails

The Hauteville plateau is the predominant natural landscape of the municipality and is characterised mainly by extensive ploughed fields. On the territory of Hauteville-lès-Dijon, circular trail 43, “Les Minières”, runs through agricultural plateaus and diverse cultivated areas, passing several architectural attractions. Les Minières descends into the Combe Pionelle and then climbs back up on the opposite side to the forest.

The Circuit de la Combe Souillot leads to the Charmes d’Arans and along its plots with diverse cultivation. Mont Afrique is a mountain in the area around Hauteville-lès-Dijon, while Côte de Soucy is a hill in the same area. In the wider regional surroundings are Mont Tasselot and Le Haut des Lavières, both designated as hills.
