Culture

The Église Notre-Dame-des-Fontaines was built between 1840 and 1843 in the neoclassical style and is protected in its entirety as a historic monument.

La Maison dite la Tour Eiffel is an emblematic house dating from the late 15th century and marks the northern entrance to Pontrieux. Its rear entrance leads to a guard post from which boat traffic on the river was once monitored.

Le Moulin du Richel is a building erected in 1880 that combines a mill and a sawmill. The water of the Trieux powered two separate wheels there: one for grinding grain and one for sawing wood.

The granite fountain Plomée at Place Le Trocquer dates from the 18th century. It was once a public fountain where the inhabitants of Pontrieux collected water.

Things to Do

The Fête des lavoirs takes place on 15 August. Admission is free; the festival includes bagad bands, dancers, musicians and washerwomen, as well as a procession in the afternoon.

The association Nos Lavoirs offers boat trips on Sundays and public holidays from June to September along a route planted and decorated by the association.

The guided tour “Petits secrets et grandes anecdotes à Pontrieux” covers the town’s history, important architectural features, local anecdotes and the concentration of washhouses. It lasts one hour.

La Vapeur du Trieux is a historic train pulled by a locomotive classified as a historic monument, and also a historic train journey between Paimpol and Pontrieux. On 24 August 2026, services of La Vapeur du Trieux were suspended until further notice.
