Tauves: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Tauves is located on the west-southwestern slope of the Sancy Massif, on the edge of the Artense plateau. The D922 runs through the town; it connects northern Cantal, northern Corrèze and the Clermont-Ferrand area.

Culture

Since 1974, the Artisanat Rural association has been based in Tauves. It promotes the work and various techniques of the region’s artisans. The Artisanat Rural shop brings together more than 70 artisans and a wide variety of creations; it also offers public demonstrations of regional handicrafts.

The Salle des expositions Jean-Jacques Faussot presents a seasonal exhibition programme. The local events programme in Tauves includes, among other things, the Salon des métiers d’art.

The Romanesque Church of Notre-Dame de la Nativité was built in the 12th century and fortified in the 14th century. It has been classified as a Monument historique since 11 February 1908.

The Chapelle Sainte-Madeleine in Granges, Tauves, probably dates from the 17th century. It was built below and outside the enclosure of Granges Castle and probably commemorates the former castle chapel.

Hiking

La Chaleille–Tauves is a 14-kilometre circular hiking trail. The route is indicated as taking 3 hours and 45 minutes and is marked with yellow trail signs. La Chaleille follows centuries-old paths lined with numerous crosses and offers views of the Monts Dore and the Sancy Massif.

The route to the Chapelle de Granges offers views of the Sancy Massif and the Cantal Mountains. The Le Burandou walking trail crosses a bocage plateau and offers views of the Burande Valley and the Sancy Massif. From Tauves, the Le Burandou route can be reached via the D922 in the direction of Bort-les-Orgues.
