Nature

The “Entre Limagne et Combrailles” hiking route is a circular trail marked in yellow. It begins at the “Les Girauds” green area in Saint-Agoulin and is accessible every day throughout the year.

For several kilometres, the described hike offers views of the Chaîne des Puys. The same hike also offers views of the Massif du Sancy, Livradois-Forez and the Monts de la Madeleine.

Culture and History

The church of Saint-Agoulin was rebuilt in 1874 in the Neo-Gothic style, based on plans by the Clermont-born architect Imberdis. It has a single-nave layout with two bays, a porch with a gallery, a projecting transept and a polygonal five-sided apse. It was built in 1878 after the previous church was demolished.

The first known mention of Saint-Agoulin dates from the 11th century. The present-day Château de Saint-Agoulin consists of a turret and a rear wing; it serves as a guesthouse.

Geographical Setting

The D22 crosses the municipality from north to south and connects Gannat with Artonne. The D12 departmental road connects Saint-Agoulin with Aigueperse, Champs and Ebreuil.

Experiences
