Among Mareugheol’s notable landmarks is the Église Sainte-Couronne. It has been protected in its entirety as a historic monument since 21 February 1969. Its oldest parts date from the 12th century and preserve Romanesque elements. The Route des Châteaux d'Auvergne also passes through Mareugheol.

Culture and History
The Fort villageois de Mareugheol was intended to protect the inhabitants, particularly during the Hundred Years’ War. The complex has a rectangular layout and a round tower at each corner. The Romanesque church within its fortifications houses an elegant 15th-century statue of the nursing Virgin Mary. Outside the fortification walls stands the Pierre des Morts, which was formerly used to lay out the deceased.
The Fort villageois de Mareugheol is the fourth stop on the thematic tour “Circuit thématique: châteaux forts et forts villageois”. It is open every day throughout the year.
Hiking
The Vodable et Colamine circular hike offers views of the plain and the villages of Lembron, as well as the Chaîne des Puys. It is 11 km long and takes 3 hours and 15 minutes. The route is offered and managed by the Conseil départemental du Puy-de-Dôme as part of the PDIPR.
At the beginning of the Vodable et Colamine circular hike, the path passes between the fountain and the washhouse near the Fort villageois and the church.
