Culture and history

The Sainte-Madeleine Church in Briffons dates from the 12th and 13th centuries. All of its stained-glass windows date from the 19th century, were created by the famous master glass artist Félix Gaudin, and are dedicated to Mary Magdalene. Since 21 August 1992, the church in its entirety has been listed as a historic monument.

Trails

The “Le moulin de Combas” route is a 13.5-kilometre circular trail of moderate difficulty, marked in yellow. This route leads to the Moulin de Combas, a turbine mill. The route also highlights small historic cultural features such as wayside crosses.

Nature

The Étang Willy Mabrut is located near the village of Farges in the municipality of Briffons, covers 3.4 hectares, and forms a dam on the La Clidane stream. During the fishing season, it is stocked with brown and rainbow trout at the beginning of each month; carp are also present.

The “De Briffons à l’étang Mabrut” hike starts in Briffons and leads to the Étang Mabrut. The route offers beautiful panoramic views of the Massif du Sancy.

Agriculture

At “Vente à la ferme – Pains Bio et Brioches” in Briffons, bread and brioche made from grain grown on farms in Romagnat and Briffons are sold directly from the farm.
