Vieille-Brioude: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Vieille-Brioude is situated on a rocky promontory overlooking the Allier Valley and the confluence with the Céroux. The settlement has been inhabited for more than a thousand years and was established on the site of a castle that has since disappeared, with a motte in the centre of the village.

Culture and History
The Croix de Védrines is a monumental cross dating from the 16th century in Vieille-Brioude. It has been listed as a historic monument since 27 February 1926.
The Pont de la Bajasse was built in the 15th century according to the principles of so-called Roman bridges and forms part of a structure that also extends into Vieille-Brioude. It has a single, very slender arch, as well as carefully assembled stone masonry at the angles and pillars.
The Church of Saint Vincent is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century. The Pont aqueduc de Vayron, which formerly supplied the town of Brioude with drinking water, is also part of the history of water engineering.
Since the early Middle Ages, Vieille-Brioude has been the most important wine-growing centre of the Brivadois. Historically, 450 hectares of the municipality's total area of 2,770 hectares were covered with vineyards. The Musée-Jardin de la Vigne presents the history of winegrowing in the Haut-Allier.
Nature and Trails
Walking and cycling routes around Vieille-Brioude follow the waterways and pass through wooded areas.
On the Via Allier, a dedicated cycle lane along the D912 connects Brioude with Vieille-Brioude. After crossing the bridge, the Via Allier follows the D16 along the Allier and passes through several hamlets.
Water and Activities
Bageasse Pleine Nature offers rafting in the gorges of the Allier. The rafting programme also includes swimming, jumps into the water and exploring the gorges.
At La Bageasse beach, supervised swimming in the Allier is available from 1 July to 31 August.
The zip-line course is considered secure and is suitable for people at least 1.40 m tall and aged 13 or over. It offers spectacular zip lines over the Allier River.
