Mazet-Saint-Voy: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Musée École de 1900 presents a reconstruction of a classroom from the Third Republic, furnished with equipment from the village schools of the hamlets. The same museum offers calligraphy and dictation workshops.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Voy has an apse dating from the 11th century. Its bell tower, standing separately from the nave on the southern side, was probably built in the 12th or 13th century.

Albert Camus stayed at Panelier in the municipality of Mazet-Saint-Voy until autumn 1943 and partly wrote “La Peste” and “Le Malentendu” there.

Regional Products

The Halle Fermière is a shop selling regional products from Haute-Loire, including cured meats, cheese, jams, honey, liqueurs, wine and chestnuts.

The hall also presents local handicrafts such as pottery, enamelled lava, leather and woodwork, as well as photography.

Nature and Trails

The Jardin Botanique et Musée des outils agricoles anciens was established in 1987 on a 1.7-hectare municipal site.

The garden is freely accessible to everyone; the entrance is located at Place des droits de l’Homme next to the Halle Fermière.

Routes for hiking, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding are available from the tourist office in Mazet-Saint-Voy.

The “En famille au Lizieux” route follows wide, easy paths through the Lizieux Forest and is suitable for a family outing.

The Pic du Lizieux, a mountain peak, is located in the immediate vicinity of Mazet-Saint-Voy. The surrounding area also includes the Suc de Mounier mountain, the les Bastiers mountain and Mont Meygal.
