Les Estables: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Domaine nordique du Mézenc offers 52 km of cross-country ski trails groomed daily. At the Les Estables ski resort, tandem flights with skis under a paraglider are also possible in winter when there is sufficient snow.

Nature

The PR484 hiking trail, “Le tour du mont Mézenc”, is classified as difficult and bears the Petite Randonnée trail marking. It leads around Mont Mézenc, the highest point in the département at 1,749 m, and offers one of the finest viewpoints in the Massif Central. Near Les Estables, the trail is recorded as being 12.32 km long, with a cumulative elevation gain of 351 m and an indicated duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Culture

The present-day Église Saint-Philibert des Estables replaced a Romanesque parish church between 1904 and 1906. It is the highest parish church in the Haute-Loire département, is open year-round and holds a service every Sunday.

The Ferme des Plantins is protected in its entirety as a historic monument; it was designated by decree on 19 December 2005. It is a farmhouse representative of the rural heritage of the Mézenc-Meygal region; the timber of the residential building was dated dendrochronologically to 1540–1541.

The Maison de la Béate in Les Estables is an ecomuseum with a reconstructed historic interior and a small lace museum. It is open year-round by prior appointment.
