The Église Saint-Marcellin has been protected as a historic monument since it was officially listed on 28 October 1993. The modern stained-glass windows in this church were created by the painter André Paillon from Saint-Étienne. A historic building material is also part of the townscape: stone quarried in the former granite quarry of Pubellier was used for door and window surrounds.

The collapsed vaults of the Romanesque church in La Chapelle-Bertin were replaced with wood. Another special feature can be found in the marshes of La Farre: the Table des sorcières, also known as pierre plate, is about 4 m in size and has a series of eight holes. According to local legend, it was brought over the La Farre marsh and is said to conceal a treasure.

The Natura 2000 site Complexe minier de la vallée de la Senouire covers 2,181 hectares and extends across eight municipalities: Jax, Josat, Sainte-Marguerite, La Chapelle-Bertin, Chavaniac-Lafayette, Varennes-Saint-Honorat, Mazerat-Aurouze and Chassagnes. It is the only area where Bechstein's bat occurs.

An optional detour from the PR563 Les sapins de Grellet hiking trail leads to basin stones in the forest. The two 300-year-old fir trees of Grellet stand about 200 m from the hiking trail.

The mountains Roche de Chantelauze, Mont Bar, La Garde and Bois de Lamandy are located around La Chapelle-Bertin.
