Sansac-Veinazès: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The “Le Veinazès” hiking trail is an 8 km circular route. The trail offers views of the Veinazès basin, Montsalvy and the Puy de l’Arbre, as well as the high plateaus of Aubrac. It starts at the large car park in the centre of the village.

Nature

In the central village area of Sansac-Veinazès, two built-up areas are separated by agricultural fields in a hollow. This creates an open landscape with views between the two areas, as well as views of the old church and two manor houses.

Villagescape and Church

Saint-Martin Church has a distinctive comb-style bell tower, which is typical of the region. During the French Revolution, the bell tower lost four bells; three bells were later returned to it, though they were not necessarily the original ones.

Saint-Martin originally consisted of a simple nave and a choir. The side chapels were added later, most recently around 1850 together with the neighbouring sacristy.

In Sansac-Veinazès, the roof structures and carpentry work on the houses were carried out mainly by the Couderc family, who lived in the hamlet of Croix-de-Pierre.

Traditions and Cuisine

The patronal festival of Sansac-Veinazès takes place in July. It includes a doubles pétanque competition and a traditional méchoui.

The second culinary hike in Sansac-Veinazès follows a route of approximately 10 km. A meal is served at several stations along the way.
