Roumégoux: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Chapelle du Bourniol replaced an earlier oratory at the end of the 17th century. Even today, on the second or third Sunday, depending on the parish calendar, members of the surrounding communities gather at the chapel.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in Roumégoux is dedicated to the Apostles Peter and Paul. It has a bell gable with three bells and a Gothic triumphal arch made of hewn granite blocks. The church stands in the village centre on a hill and is visible from the road junction where the roads to Parlan and to Saint-Saury, and onward to Quercy, branch off.

The Chapelle du Bournioux lies along the route to Santiago de Compostela. The Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in Roumégoux and the Chapelle du Bournioux are also stages along the Route Saint-Géraud. People still stop at the Fontaine de Saint-Géraud to refresh themselves or draw water.

Trails and Landscape

The Circuit des Moulès begins at the Place de l'église. It passes through exceptionally well-preserved natural surroundings and offers views of the Monts du Cantal. In the village of Mestries, the trail passes the former leprosarium.

Art and Crafts

The Atelier L'En Verre de l'Art offers adults introductory courses in modelling and working with clay. It also offers painting courses and practical art workshops for all audiences, led by Nathalie Demazeau.

Local Bread and Farm Shop

At the Ferme Bio de la Barreyrie, “Paysan” sourdough bread is baked in a wood-fired oven. On Fridays, except in August, direct sales from the farm are available there from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
