The Écomusée de la Margeride has been officially recognised as a Musée de France under the French Heritage Code since 17 September 2003.
Culture
The Jardin de Saint-Martin is located at the foot of Ruynes’ medieval tower. The Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption contains a wooden Christ dating from the 15th century, which is classified as a Monument historique.
A dedicated collection showcases Un Monde en peluche: on display are stuffed animals and dolls from 1900 to the present day, rare antique toys, pedal cars, contemporary posters, as well as memorabilia from the two world wars and the ORTF years. The exhibition is housed in a typically Auvergnat old building and offers an original journey through the 20th century, rich in anecdotes.
The Viaduc de Garabit was built between 1880 and 1884. The iron structure is a major work by Gustave Eiffel and spans the Truyère gorges. At the site, there is also a free open-air exhibition entitled “Le fabuleux destin du viaduc de Garabit”.
Nature
The Jardin de Saint-Martin showcases characteristic plant species of the Margeride, including blue potatoes and perennial spinach.

Since 1984, the Foire aux Livres de Ruynes-en-Margeride has brought authors, publishers and booksellers together. Both professionals and private individuals take part in the event.
