Culture

The Église Saint-André has a comb-style bell tower; this architectural form is rare in the Allier département. The church also houses the sculpture group “Saint Michel terrassant le dragon”, which was listed as a protected object on 18 April 1997.

History

The present-day building of the Château de l’Ormet dates, at least as far as the walls are concerned, from the 18th century. L’Ormet was a significant agricultural estate that stretched from the heights of Veauce to the village of Valignat; it remained significant until the 19th century.

Hiking

The Notre-Dame-de-la-Défense walking loop is listed as 15.5 kilometres long, with a walking time of four hours. In Valignat, it can be started at the Musée de la Source.
