Landscape and trails

Stage 5 of the Via Allier between Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule and Vichy passes through Paray-sous-Briailles. The Boucle Villemouze is an easy walk of around eight kilometres around the Villemouze lakes; nearby, the route leads to the southern entrance of the Val d’Allier National Nature Reserve at the Le Méplan site in the municipality of Contigny.

A variant starting from Paray-sous-Briailles allows you to complete the 10-kilometre Tour Parodien circuit; it begins in front of the church, heads towards Saint-Pourçain and follows a dirt track after 600 metres.

Water and nature

The Natural Wake Park offers an introduction to cable water skiing with a kneeboard, skis, wakeboard and a two-pulley system for different ability levels. The Aqua Park at Natural Wake Park is an inflatable course on the water and includes obstacles, several slides and a Blop-Jump with an air cushion, from which you can jump more than four metres high.

Natural Wake Park rents out canoes for three or four people for trips on its own body of water.

Étang de Villemouze is a 17-hectare fishing lake with carp, zander, pike and black bass. Fishing is possible at the lake with a day fishing permit, available from Natural Wake Park; fishing courses are also offered there by a professional provider.

Natural Wake Park has a camping area where visitors can pitch their tents and is independently accessible to wheelchair users.
