It provides access to part of Doyet’s local heritage and history. On the PR7: Rand'Eau Doyet, you can discover the Château d'Ancinet; the circular hike also offers the opportunity to discover the tomb of Gilbert de Courtais as a site of local heritage. Culture and history

The parish church of Doyet dates from the late 19th century, while the former church of Doyet dates from the 12th century. The Chapelle de Courtais stands between the church of Doyet and the former presbytery. It was preserved at the request of Mme de Courtais, the general’s widow, even though it projected from the north side of the church scheduled for demolition.

The mausoleum of General de Courtais and his family is a 7-metre-high, pyramid-shaped monument whose design was influenced by Egyptian art. It stands in the former cemetery of Doyet. Château de la Chassignole also stands in the grounds of Chassignole; it housed the de Courtais family for four centuries.

Doyet belongs to the area that is often called the “Pôle minier” because of its significant coal production in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
