The thermal establishment in Néris-les-Bains was built in 1826 on the site of Gallo-Roman baths. Its southern gallery contains numerous stone elements from ancient baths.
History
The Parc des Arènes contains the remains of a Gallo-Roman amphitheatre. In the Vallon des Chaudes lies the Gallo-Roman archaeological site of Ancien camp romain des Chaudes, with protected remains of basins; this protection was established by a decree dated 20 September 1927.
The remains of the Gallo-Roman villa of Cheberne and its outbuildings include a richly furnished residential building, a thermal wing surrounded by a colonnade, and craft areas. The casino was rebuilt after a fire between 1897 and 1900; its northern pavilion is a former theatre. Sculpted elements and brown camaieu murals decorate the casino, while the theatre façade bears depictions of the performing arts painted by Emile Ledoux.
Culture
The Maison du Patrimoine offers a guided tour with commentary through collections from the ancient town of Néris and introduces visitors to Gallo-Roman civilisation as well as the early origins of urban life in the area. The Musée gallo-romain displays Gallo-Roman ceramics that provide evidence of everyday culinary life, including mortars for processing food, cooking vessels, and tableware for serving meals.
The Musée gallo-romain de Néris-les-Bains displays Gallo-Roman remains found locally, including ceramics, depictions of deities, columns, frescoes, and everyday objects. It is housed in a 15th-century building and is located near the Romanesque church and the Merovingian necropolis.
The guided tour of the Théâtre André Messager lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes and offers insights behind the scenes, into theatre life, and into its traditions and superstitions. It includes the auditorium’s safety systems, the dressing rooms, stage direction, and the theatre’s technical terminology.
The Église Saint-Georges was built between the 4th and 6th centuries as a Gallo-Roman civic basilica, partly on walls dating from the Roman imperial period, and was converted into a church in the 6th century. The Chapelle Saint-Joseph de l'Espérance et du Bon Secours was built in 1874 and was a pilgrimage site for many years. Mass is celebrated at the chapel every year on 19 March, the feast day of Saint Joseph; the procession was reinstated and scheduled for 1 May.

The Les Nériades wellness centre offers access to the sensory area and various treatment rituals without requiring a thermal cure beforehand. Les Nériades offers massages under a thermal-water shower, jet showers, and baths with essential oils.
Nature and Trails
The PR29 route, “Viaduc et ses vallons”, is a 10-kilometre, moderately difficult circular hike with 206 metres of elevation gain and a stated walking time of 2 hours and 30 minutes. It passes through deep valleys and over ridges; along the way, hikers can see Gallo-Roman basins and viaducts.
The Parcours de l'arbre passes through six parks featuring familiar and rarer tree species, including trees introduced from Asia and America during the Belle Époque. Néris-les-Bains has 17 hectares of parkland suitable for walks and botanical visits.
