Lavoine: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Landscape
Lavoine is the source of the Sichon River. A notable landscape feature is the Rocher Saint Vincent, which reaches an altitude of 932 m and offers views of the Chaîne des Puys and the Sichon Valley.
At 1,287 m, Puy-de-Montoncel is the highest point in the Allier département. It can be reached on foot through the Bois Noirs forest; at the top, a 360-degree panorama opens up.
Culture
The Musée du Bois et de la Forêt can be visited independently. Smartphone QR codes and audio explanations provide information about the museum’s individual elements.
At the beginning of the 1990s, the municipality of Lavoine commissioned the construction of a water-powered sawmill as a faithful reconstruction of a water-powered sawmill that had previously existed within the municipality. The water and ball clock also stands in the centre of Lavoine; audio explanations are available there via a smartphone QR code.
The ruins of Château de Puyramont are located at the Rocher Saint Vincent. The Rocher Saint Vincent is also a climbing area.

Trail No. 25 starts at the Foyer du Montoncel in Lavoine. The route is 25.6 km long and was awarded the Uni’Vert Trail designation by the Fédération Française d’Athlétisme.

In summer, the Bois Noirs massif offers hiking, mountain biking, a permanent orienteering course and archery. The discovery trail starts at the Foyer du Montoncel car park and provides an on-foot introduction to the natural and human environment of the Bois Noirs.
Mountain-bike route No. 88, “Le Pays des Pions”, leads from the Foyer du Montoncel or from La Guillermie to Lavoine and showcases its forest heritage.
