Lavault-Sainte-Anne: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

La Charité was recognised in 2004 as part of France’s “Patrimoine du XXe siècle”. On the first Sunday of each month, approximately two-hour tours of the entire La Charité architectural complex in Lavault-Sainte-Anne are offered there.

Culture

The Église Sainte-Anne is a Romanesque church dating from the 11th century. Its appearance includes a distinctive four-sided bell tower covered with chestnut shingles. Inside, there is a stone altar from the 11th century that has ISMH protected status.

The Église Sainte-Anne can be visited independently or with a guide by prior reservation. Every year on 26 July, the statue of Saint Anne is carried under a canopy in a procession from the church to the cross near the mill.

Water and landscape

The Cher runs along the centre of Lavault-Sainte-Anne; the canoeing and kayaking club’s base is located at this point. The river is popular with anglers and is used for fishing.

Languistre covers 2.4 hectares, including 2 hectares of water surface, and is leased to the local fishing club. After flowing through the Bois de la Brosse, the Ruisseau des Serpents feeds the cascade in the Lavault-Sainte-Anne arboretum.

Activities

A permanent slalom course is located directly below the Moulin de Chauvière whitewater base. Canoeing, kayaking, rafting and hiking are offered at the base.

Events

The Jazz au Fil du Cher festival takes place every year for one week in July in the area of the Communauté d'Agglomération de Montluçon. As part of the festival, a jazz walk takes place on Sundays at the Pré de Chauvière in Lavault-Sainte-Anne.
