Culture and history
The Château d’Aguerria is a manor house built before the 16th century. In 1758, it was extended by three square towers with pyramid roofs, which are still visible today. In 2007, the municipality of Mouguerre established its town hall in the Château d’Aguerria.
The obelisk known as the Croix de Mouguerre is located on the Chemin rural dit de la Croix de Mouguerre in Mouguerre. It was erected in 1917 through a public collection in honour of Marshal Soult and his army. At the same time, it commemorates Soult and his seven months of fighting in the Basque Country between 1813 and 1814 against the advance of Arthur Wellington.
The Croix de Mouguerre stands on a sparsely vegetated, wild-looking promontory. According to oral tradition, this promontory was formerly called Akelarre; today it is known as Azerilarre. A votive cross erected by the church at the Croix de Mouguerre is intended to remind visitors that pagan customs belong to the past.

The Elizaberri promenade begins on broad, often panoramic paths along a ridge. It then leads through a cool valley and an oak grove covered with ferns. A walk in the Bourg of Mouguerre between the church and the Croix de Mouguerre passes beautiful houses in the Labourdin style.
