The riverside bastide of Villeneuve-sur-Lot has stone and brick-built fortifications with town gates and towers dating from after 1313.
The Chapelle des Pénitents blancs in Villeneuve-sur-Lot was listed as a historic monument in 1994 and classified, together with its furnishings, in 2014. Following an interior restoration, the work on which was completed at the end of February 2020, it was reopened to the public.
