Saint-Georges: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Saint-Georges is bordered by the Lot to the west and stretches across the plain as well as the slopes overlooking the valley. The village is surrounded by numerous elongated, rounded or pointed hills known as “Pechs”. The Bellaygue stream runs through Saint-Georges and flows into the Lot.

The hills around Saint-Georges are dominated by orchards with Ente plum trees. The D243 runs from Saint-Georges towards Penne-d’Agenais; there is also a network of minor roads.

Several circular trails start in Saint-Georges. The circular trail “Saint-Georges, balade dans les coteaux de la vallée du Lot” is 7 km long, includes 130 metres of elevation gain and is marked with painted trail signs. The circular trail “Saint-Georges / Bourlens, le circuit des Pechs” covers 13.7 km and 300 metres of elevation gain; it is also marked with painted trail signs. Along this trail, the view extends far towards the Lot valley. The “Circuit Autour de Perricard” also starts in Saint-Georges, is 28.8 km long and includes 535 metres of elevation gain.
Townscape and History
The renovated centre of Saint-Georges features buildings with exposed stonework and a Romanesque church. Saint-Georges developed around its parish church; the buildings are arranged in a semicircle along the main road, which follows the course of the slope.
The apse has survived from the 12th-century Romanesque parish church of Saint-Georges. It is decorated with corbels and has an axial window with a roll moulding. Following a restoration plan drawn up in 1855, the parish church was extended with a new façade, a bell tower and side chapels. The work was completed in 1857, although the bell tower remained unfinished.
Around the 14th century, two mills were built on the Bellague stream before it joined the Lot. Numerous prehistoric and Gallo-Roman remains have been found in Saint-Georges. At the La Pronquière archaeological site in the municipality of Saint-Georges, remains were found in a hyena den. The dovecote of La Pronquière in Saint-Georges is one of the oldest documented examples in the area and dates from the 17th century.
