The Tour d’Hautefage has a hexagonal floor plan and towers above the Notre-Dame church. At the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, it was built as a residence for the bishops of Agen under Leonardo della Rovere (1487–1519) and Antonio della Rovere (1519–1538).

Culture
The Église Saint-Just is a Romanesque church that was extended in the 15th century. During the Wars of Religion, its bell tower was converted into a defensive tower; since 27 September 1996, the church has been listed as a monument historique. The Église Saint-Thomas is also a Romanesque building and was remodelled in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Notre-Dame d’Hautefage was built towards the end of the 15th or at the beginning of the 16th century on a spring that had been considered miraculous since the Middle Ages. From the Middle Ages until the 19th century, Hautefage-la-Tour was a popular pilgrimage destination where solemn processions took place every year.
Hiking trails
The “Hautefage-la-Tour, la balade de la Malausie” hiking route starts in Hautefage-la-Tour, is marked with coloured signs, is 4.9 kilometres long and has 235 metres of elevation gain. The monumental Tour d’Hautefage is visible from almost every point on this circular route.
The “Héros de plume et d’épée” activity is a 5-kilometre Terra Aventura route in Hautefage-la-Tour, lasting 2 to 3 hours. It uses the free Terra Aventura geocaching format with clues, puzzles and a treasure hunt. On the route, the Poï’z Zétoulu from the field of literature leads visitors through Hautefage-la-Tour.
The “Bonneval, le circuit des trois églises” circular route starts in Hautefage-la-Tour and is marked with coloured signs. It is 10.9 kilometres long and has 295 metres of elevation gain.
Landscape
Hautefage-la-Tour is located in the Pays de Serres, a landscape of plateaus cut through by deep valleys. There, the Tour d’Hautefage rises above a hill situated between the valleys of the Tancanne, the Lestaque and the Lajasse.
The Saint-Thomas and Saint-Just churches are located on green hillsides and overlook the valleys of the Tancanne and the Lestaque, as well as the Agen–Périgueux railway line.
Local life
The Pizzeria de la Tour in the village centre offers a wide selection of takeaway pizzas prepared with fresh produce from local producers. In July and August, a guinguette is held in Hautefage-la-Tour every Friday evening from 7 p.m., organised by Marché Minut’ Au coin des Délices.
