The castle settlement of Fumel was built between the 11th and 12th centuries on the southern and western slopes of a hill overlooking the Lot in the parish of Saint-Hippolyte de Condat.

History
The Château de Fumel overlooks the River Lot. Its original fortress guarded the border between Quercy and Agenais. The flowering terraces and the adjacent former park of the Château de Fumel are open to visitors.
The Church of Saint Hyppolite de Condat dates back to the 10th century. Until 1903, it was the mother church of Fumel and Condat.
The Watt machine in Fumel has a span of 10 metres and an output of 200 hp. It arrived at the Fumel factory by ship in 1850 and was assembled there.
The Théâtre d'eau is an outdoor swimming pool that is open during the summer season. It has a 120 m² water play area.

The “Fumel, randonnée entre Quercy et Périgord” hiking trail runs through the wooded slopes of the Fumélois.
The “Fumel, rive droite, Montayral et Saint-Vite, rive gauche du Lot” hiking trail begins at the Baladoir, passes through the forests of Perricard and descends into the valley to the shady banks of the river.
