Wine and Local Produce

The Côtes du Marmandais appellation was established as VDQS in 1955 and admitted to the AOC family on 2 April 1990. Les Marmandais produces wines from seven traditional grape varieties and the endemic Abouriou grape variety.

Throughout the year and by reservation, Les Marmandais offers cellar and vineyard tours in a VW Combi. The route Circuit Paysages des Vignobles de Cocumont starts at Mont du Coucou in Cocumont’s communal vineyard and combines an introduction to the characteristics of the local grape varieties with a tasting on the return to the Cave du Marmandais.

Culture and Churches

The Church of Saint-Jean-de-Vidailhac is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century and is protected as a historic monument. Visitors enter Saint-Jean-de-Vidailhac through a portal in the south façade and can admire the church’s triumphal arch and capitals. Saint-Jean-de-Vidailhac is said to have been built on the remains of a Carolingian place of worship.

The short loop Goutx, site panoramique de Cocumont starts at the viewpoint of the 11th-century Romanesque church of Goutz and offers views of the vineyards and the Garonne Valley. The route Goutz, le circuit des trois églises romanes passes through the agricultural slopes and forests of Cocumont and Guérin, leads past three Romanesque churches, and offers extensive views of the Garonne Valley and the Garonne slopes.
