Culture and history

At the Place de l’Église in Ychoux, the tomb monument of the Larreillet family, the founders of the ironworks, preserves the memory of the former iron industry. The Étang des Forges features the remains of 18th-century ironworks and an artificial pond bearing witness to the rich artisanal history of the Landes. The Étang des Forges is also home to a workers’ house, which serves as the campsite reception, and a bread oven dating from 1819.

The Notre-Dame d’Ychoux church has a pointed-arch portal, probably dating from the 17th century, with two bas-reliefs: one depicts the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, while the other shows the triumph of the Archangel Gabriel. The Chapelle des trois fontaines was built in 1898 on private land in the Lavigne area of Ychoux, under the patronage of Abbé Lage, near the Moulin de Pin stream. The chapel features three fountains and a Stations of the Cross.

The Arboretum d’Ychoux is a walking area for families and was created in the midst of a pine forest.

Activities

The “La Complainte du Tulipier” Terra Aventura route in Ychoux leads visitors on an exploration of the arboretum and forestry, takes one hour, and is two kilometres long. The paved Pumptrack d’Ychoux is located near the SNCF railway station next to the skate park and is open to skateboards, scooters, roller skates, and BMX bikes.
