Culture and History
Gallo-Roman foundations were uncovered in Marions in 1840. The Église Saint-Pierre is considered a small Romanesque building with a rectangular floor plan and a choir with a flat end. It was formerly a church dependent on Fontguilhem Abbey. On the south wall of the nave there is a stained-glass window dated 1893 and signed by the Toulouse master Bergez. The Église Saint-Pierre is also associated with a traditional veneration of Saint Louis on 25 August.
The Moulin des Monges was built as a bridge structure over the Barthos and had a lake whose fish fed the monks of Fontguilhem Abbey. The present-day building probably dates from the 17th century.
Landscape
Les moulins du Barthos is an easy, 11.44 km circular hike in Marions with a duration of 3 hours and 20 minutes. The route runs along small, quiet roads and forest paths and follows yellow or green trail markers designated by the département. At kilometre 9.13, the route passes the Moulin des Monges.
