Culture and History

Worked flints have been found at several locations in Maransin. The Church of Saint Martin was inaugurated in 1867 by the Archbishop of Bordeaux, Cardinal Donnet, replacing an earlier church dating from the 10th to the 12th century. Its bell is considered to be very old and was recast on site by a travelling Lorraine bell founder named Martin. The 17th-century bread oven in the hamlet of Lusseau is still functional. The Church of Saint Martin can be visited by prior arrangement, either independently or as part of a guided tour.
