Créon: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

The bastide of Créon was built according to a regular plan with square plots. Its area corresponds approximately to that of the central square, which has sides measuring around 70 metres. The Place de la Prévôté itself is a 70-metre square and characteristic of bastides; three of its sides are lined with arcades.

Behind the heart of the bastide, the historic chemin de ronde is still visible today. Wooden palisades once followed its circular course. The Notre-Dame church in Créon was built between 1316 and 1320.

Part of everyday life in the area is the weekly market, which welcomes an average of around 100 traders. Where possible, these include local producers.

Cycling and Routes

The Vélo de Créon centre promotes cycling through bicycle hire, learning programmes, and events and festivities held throughout the year. It rents out bicycles for rides along the Roger-Lapébie cycle route. The “Créon, boucle de la bastide” circular walk is an easy 3-kilometre route.

The “Boucle aux trésors” route leads from its starting point along the Roger-Lapébie cycle route in the direction of Bordeaux.

Getting Around

TransGironde bus routes 303 and 304 connect Bordeaux and Créon; bicycles can be carried in the luggage compartment. The “Boucle aux trésors” route begins at Créon’s former railway station, which now serves as a tourist information office.

Stage 8 of the Chemin d’Amadour, which is 26 kilometres long, begins in the square of Créon’s bastide.
