The Boucle de la Tour de By has been in operation since June 1, 2018. It is signposted in one direction, starts at Port de By, follows the D2, and returns via the D3. The route runs along vineyards and the Gironde estuary and offers panoramic views. It is classified as a cultural, nature-oriented, and oenological route.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Saturnin in Bégadan preserves its 12th-century apse. The choir and apse of the Église Saint-Saturnin were classified as historic monuments by inclusion on a list in 1862.

The grounds of Château Laujac are listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. Port de By appears to have been established toward the end of the 17th century after the marshes were drained.

Château La Tour de By has a former lighthouse, built in 1825 to guide fishermen and sailors on the nearby Gironde estuary.

Château La Branne in Bégadan offers wine tastings. Visitors can tour the cellars of Château La Branne and, depending on the season, learn about the work in the vineyard or cellar. Château La Branne is an island of vineyards in very natural and peaceful surroundings.

Château Laujac in Bégadan offers a tour with tasting. Château Labadie allows visitors to tour its cellars and learn about the cultivation methods used in the vineyard. Château Labadie also offers tastings of red and white wines with the AOC Médoc designation.

Château La Tour de By offers two sightseeing tours: one leads through the 94-hectare vineyards, while the other goes to the Tour de By, with a panorama over the Gironde. Along the promenade of Château La Tour de By, explanatory panels provide information about the heritage, terroir, and vineyards.
