Culture and History
Château de Puyguilhem is a fortified castle with an enclosure in Thénac. The current buildings date from the 17th century and stand on masonry dating from the 13th century.
Château de Thénac rises on the ruins of a priory mentioned in 1109. The rural priory of Monbos was built in the 11th and 12th centuries and is recorded in the cartularies of Notre-Dame de la Sauve-Majeure Abbey from 1135 and Cadouin Abbey from 1226.
The Église de Monbos preserves a Romanesque choir and remarkable pre-Romanesque capitals. It has been a listed historic monument since 1947. Concerts are held there in summer by the Association les Amis de l'Eglise de Monbos.
Château Les Brandeaux is located in the small medieval village of Puyguilhem in the municipality of Thénac.
