Saint-Antoine-Cumond: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The Church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens is a fortified Romanesque church dating from the late 12th century. Its portal has nine archivolts. The Château de Cumond was built between 1700 and 1702 according to an H-shaped plan. Its estate includes a landscaped park laid out at the end of the 19th century according to plans by the landscape architect Bühler.

There is also a statue of Saint Anthony, the patron saint of the municipality, in the centre of Saint-Antoine-Cumond.

History

The former Commanderie de Saint Antoine lès Aubeterre stood on the left bank of the Dronne, opposite Aubeterre, three kilometres away, in what is now the territory of Saint-Antoine-Cumond. The former monastery of the Commanderie de Saint-Antoine was restored in 1599 and is now a residential building.

The Commanderie générale d’Aubeterre was founded in 1790 as a commandery of the Hospitaller Order of Saint Anthony.
