The “Coteaux calcaires de Proissans, Sainte-Nathalène et Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel” Natura 2000 site includes Proissans as one of four participating municipalities. It comprises limestone slopes of varying steepness and woodland density, with different aspects, and features characteristic flora and fauna with some Mediterranean tendencies.

Culture and History

The Château de la Roussie has a small chapel dating from the 17th century. Since 4 October 1946, the Château de la Roussie has been listed as a Monument historique.

At the Manoir du Cluzeau, the façades and roofs, as well as the remains of the former enclosure, were partially listed as a Monument historique on 7 December 1970. The manor was built on a rock in the 15th or 16th century and overlooks a preserved, wild valley.

The tower of the Manoir de Langlade was partially listed as a Monument historique on 6 December 1948. The manor also has a 17th-century dovecote and can be identified by its tower with a drip moulding.

Routes and Activities

The 12-kilometre Boucle des Sangliers is a route for hiking and mountain biking. It runs through a gently sloping landscape between meadows and chestnut forests.

A VTC route leads from the centre of Proissans through the Enéa valley. The Étang de Proissans is recommended for fishing.
