At the heart of Gaugeac stands Château Saint-Germain. Since 28 December 1984, it has been protected under a mixed heritage designation: the fireplaces on the first floor are classified, while the façades and roofs of the château and outbuildings are listed as protected monuments.

Culture and History
The Château Saint-Germain in the municipality of Gaugeac can be regarded as an advanced fort of the powerful Château de Biron. Château de Biron was unable to monitor or control traffic in the narrow Dropt Valley.
Château Saint-Germain features construction and architectural elements from the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. It also served as a filming location for action scenes in several swashbuckling films, including a sequence from La Fille de d’Artagnan, starring Philippe Noiret and Sophie Marceau.
The parish church of Gaugeac is dedicated to Saint Peter in Chains, Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens. A 900th-anniversary celebration of the first written mention was planned at Château Saint-Germain for 2024. The 38th edition of the festival L’été Musical en Bergerac was also announced for Château Saint-Germain in Gaugeac.
Nature
Gaugeac is part of the Vallée du Dropt area, a type 2 continental ZNIEFF. The Vallée du Dropt area is listed as a protected area under French legislation from 1930.

At Ferme de Tandou in Gaugeac, there are paths for hiking and ponds for fishing on site. Château Saint-Germain can be visited as part of a self-guided visit; guided tours are only available by appointment.
