La Boissière-D'ans: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The historic sites of La Boissière-d'Ans include the Forges d'Ans. They were listed as a Monument historique by decree of 21 December 2018 and were founded at the end of the 17th century by Jacques-François de Hautefort d'Ajat, Seigneur d'Ans.

Culture

The protected Forges d'Ans complex comprises the manor house, the foundry, a park with hydraulic valves and former blast furnaces. Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements come together in the Église Saint-Martin, which features a portal with capitals. Medieval wall paintings were discovered there during restoration work in 2011.

The Château des Brouillets also preserves visible traces of its construction history: machicolations and a chemin de ronde can still be clearly seen. The Château des Brouillets, near the centre of La Boissière-d'Ans, dates from the 15th century and belonged to Jeanne d'Albret, the mother of Henry IV. In the 15th century, the Château d'Ans formed the basis of the political and military authority of the Châtellenie d'Ans and served as the residence of its captain.

Nature

The Cascade du Blâme is located at the foot of the bridge in La Boissière-d'Ans. There, the stream of the same name flows into the Auvézère. The Blâme supplied the forge in La Boissière-d'Ans from 1691 to 1830.

The Causse de Cubjac is located within the municipality of Cubjac-Auvézère-Val d'Ans. It is a type 2 ZNIEFF covering 56.9 % of the municipal area.

Routes

The preserved blast furnaces of the Forges d'Ans can be visited on certain open days organised by the « La route des canons » association. The “La Châtellenie d'Ans” circuit is a driving tour in the Vézère Périgord Noir. The Route des Canons begins at the preserved forge in La Boissière-d'Ans.

Brebis d'Ans offers farm-made ice cream and dairy products made from the milk of Basque-breed sheep.
